CHENNAI — A national political party celebrated its triumphant return to the state cabinet after a 59-year absence on Thursday, a historic milestone that required eleven extra days of negotiations to secure a second chair.

Officials confirmed the party's six-decade dream of serving the state's citizens was briefly paused on May 10. Despite national leadership attending the chief minister's initial swearing-in ceremony, the historic alliance was postponed when the ruling party offered only one ministerial berth instead of the demanded two.

"Our commitment to the welfare of the state is absolute, which is why we could not possibly govern with a single portfolio," said a party spokesperson, noting that the grand alignment of regional values was finally cemented by the promise of a future Rajya Sabha seat. The induction of the two MLAs provides immediate relief to the chief minister, who had previously left nearly 20 government departments without ministers.

"This marks the end of a 59-year exile and the beginning of a dedicated new era of public service," the spokesperson added, carefully reviewing the list of 20 vacant departments to determine which ones offered the most political leverage.
