NEW DELHI — Following a drone strike on Moscow that killed an Indian national and injured three others, government officials issued a statement on Tuesday reminding citizens that active combat theaters are not officially sanctioned employment hubs.

"Since the conflict began in February 2022, we have issued clear advisories that Indians should avoid conflict zones," a ministry official said, expressing condolences for what marks at least the 22nd Indian casualty in the ongoing war. "We are working tirelessly to understand why citizens continue to pack their bags for a heavily sanctioned nation currently experiencing aerial bombardment."

Authorities confirmed they are looking into private recruiters who successfully market Russian labor gaps to workers. The recruitment agents reportedly highlight the high wages available in war-impacted sectors, while placing the risk of sudden death in the terms and conditions.

"The safety of our citizens abroad is paramount," the official added, carefully filing away the latest report on international worker remittances. "We urge job seekers to remain in India, where economic desperation is completely non-explosive."
