TIRUCHULI — Puthiya Tamilagam announced Tuesday that it has selected a candidate to contest from a constituency, marking what party officials called a decisive step in its electoral strategy of nominating people to contest elections.

Dr. Shyam Krishnasamy, the party's State youth wing president, will contest from Srivilliputtur Assembly Constituency, while M.S.R. Rajavarman will contest from Tiruchuli, according to a statement released by the party. Both candidates confirmed they intend to participate in the election by being candidates in it.

"This nomination reflects our commitment to the democratic process of announcing which constituencies our candidates will contest from," said a party spokesperson, reading from prepared remarks. "We have carefully selected constituencies and matched them with candidates who will contest from them."

The announcement comes as part of the party's broader electoral preparation, which includes identifying constituencies, selecting candidates, and announcing that those candidates will contest from those constituencies. Party workers have been instructed to support the candidates in the constituencies they have been assigned to contest from.

Political observers noted that the development follows the established pattern of political parties nominating candidates to contest elections. "They have announced their candidates," confirmed Dr. K. Sundaram, a political analyst. "The candidates will now contest from their respective constituencies, which is typically what happens after such announcements."

The party indicated it would continue monitoring the situation and may announce additional candidates for additional constituencies, depending on how many constituencies require candidates to contest from them.
